NOTICE TO USERS OF THE NIKON D750 DIGITAL SLR CAMERA OF NEWLY ADDED AFFECTED PRODUCT SERIAL NUMBERS (UPDATED)

In July 2015 and with an additional notice in February 2016, we announced that the shutter in some Nikon D750 digital SLR cameras manufactured between October 2014 and June 2015 does not function normally, sometimes resulting in shading of a portion of images. Since that time, further examination of the issue has found that the same issue may also occur with D750 cameras manufactured from July to September 2014 and from July 2015 to September 2016.

Therefore, any D750 manufactured from July 2014 to September 2016 is eligible for inspection and repair of its shutter. Please follow the instructions in the “Identifying affected products” section below to check if your camera is affected.

In July of 2015, we announced that the shutter in some Nikon D750 digital SLR cameras manufactured in October and November of 2014 does not function normally, sometimes resulting in shading of a portion of images. Since that time, our examination of the issue has clarified the fact that the same issue may occur with D750 cameras manufactured from December, 2014 through June, 2015.

Therefore, any D750 manufactured from October, 2014 through June, 2015 is eligible for inspection and repair of its shutter. Please direct inquiries regarding this issue to your nearest Nikon service centre.

It has come to our attention that the shutter in some Nikon D750 digital SLR cameras manufactured in October and November of 2014 does not function normally, sometimes resulting in shading of a portion of images. We have decided to take the following measures regarding this issue.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience the issue may have caused.

IDENTIFYING AFFECTED PRODUCTS

To check whether or not your camera is one of those affected by this issue, enter your D750's serial number in the text box below and click the Verify Serial Number button. Your camera's serial number will be checked against those of applicable products. If your camera is one of those affected, instructions for requesting repairs will be displayed. If your camera is not affected by this issue, rest assured that repairs to your camera are not necessary and you may continue using your camera without concern for this issue.

Please note that even if a serial number is identified as one affected by this issue, a black dot inside the tripod socket on the bottom of the camera, like that shown in the photo below, will indicate that the appropriate measures have already been applied.

AFFECTED PRODUCT SERIAL NUMBERS

The camera's serial number is the 7-digit number indicated by the red frame in the image above.

Resolution

Please contact your nearest Nikon service centre if you own a Nikon D750 digital SLR camera to which this issue applies.

They will keep your camera, and examine and repair the camera's shutter free of charge, even if the camera's warranty has expired.

REQUESTING SERVICE

See the following for instructions for requesting servicing by a Nikon service centre.

Only the camera body, with the body cap in place, should be sent for repair.
Please remove any interchangeable lens mounted on the camera, the battery, the SD memory card, and any accessories that may be attached to the camera before sending it.
