NIKKOR Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S

I focused on the nearest upright petals where the folds are clearly visible to get a beautiful soft bokeh and showcased the flower’s natural beauty and vibrant colours with a 3D feel.

NIKKOR Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S
The focal range of the NIKKOR Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 S allows me to photograph a multitude of genres, from travel to portraiture, action, and wildlife. The close focusing distance capability is the clincher as it provides the flexibility to get close to my subjects and capture beautiful out-of-focus background for better subject separation. The ability to expand on the focal range is a huge plus. When paired with accessories like the Z teleconverters, and the Z 9’s high resolution and DX mode capability, it allows me to increase the range even further and photograph the multitude of genres I’m keen on without needing to change lenses.

For this shot, I wanted to focus on these rock-like textures, especially the area surrounding the eye, that brilliantly camouflage the gharial.

Nature never fails to amaze me with its beautiful vibrant colours, shapes, and textures, just like the details I’ve captured of this Malay lacewing.

About the Photographer

Andrew JK Tan
I like to present the beauty and uniqueness of my subjects, ranging from daily scenes to exotic wildlife. While my favourite photography genres are action and wildlife, I also pursue others just as much to minimise burnout or boredom. This also allows me to grow in terms of knowledge and photography capability, which makes it easier to mix and match techniques, and provides a potential for me to produce new and unique images.
