Tokyo - Nikon Corporation – released six new COOLPIX S-Series models today that will once again set an all-new benchmark for stylish functionality. Features include a built-in GPS function, a high-power 18x optical zoom that utilises thin optics and an effective 16.0-million pixel count for superior image quality, to name but a few items. Building upon the well-received COOLPIX S9100 released in the spring of 2011, Nikon has created two new high-power zoom models with 18x optical zoom NIKKOR lenses which utilise thin optics, as well as greatly enhancing the technology offered by these cameras. These models come with new technology ranging from a backside illumination CMOS image sensor to a lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) system that helps capture beautiful photos in dim conditions; a new movie function allows users to save and play back movies, which includes the recording of multiple scenes that can be saved as a single file. 1. Thin 18x Optical Zoom NIKKOR Lens While featuring a high-performance thin 18x optical zoom NIKKOR lens that covers a wide range of angles of view from wide-angle 25 mm to super-telephoto 450 mm (both equivalent in 35-mm [135] format), these cameras also boast compact and slim bodies for superior portability. Perfect for taking a wide variety of images, users can take these cameras anywhere and use the powerful zoom lens at anytime. 2. The Perfect Night Shot Equipped with a backside illumination CMOS image sensor with an effective 16.0-million pixel count, the noise that occurs with shooting at high sensitivities is effectively suppressed. Along with a newly adopted lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) function, these cameras effectively reduce blur, even when shooting indoors or in dark places – images are always clear and sharp. The backside illumination CMOS sensor features three modes which enhance image quality when shooting at high sensitivities. This is achieved through the capture of multiple shots at high speed in quick succession, which are then combined and recorded as a single image. Record Pristine Full-HD Movies With Stereo Sound Storing those fantastic memories is easy now with this movie function that boasts stereo sound and superior picture quality; as well as a new function that saves multiple scenes as a single file. Users can now record multiple movie scenes which will ultimately appear as a single file and appear as a series with playback. Similar to these models' predecessors, full-HD movies feature stereo sound and a frame size of 1920 x 1080 pixels; optical zoom can be used during movie recording as well. What's more, dramatic movies recorded using the HS Movie function can be played back in slow motion at 1/2 or 1/4 the normal playback speed, or can be sped up to twice the normal playback speed for a comical effect. With this broad range of movie recording functions, it will be easy to record movies and enjoy them in all-new ways. 4. Ultra-Crisp Three-Inch TFT LCD Monitor These cameras are both equipped with a three-inch, approximately 921k-dot, wide-viewing angle Clear Colour Display TFT LCD monitor that offers clear and crisp display. With the large LCD monitor brighter, shooting, viewing images and applying settings are easy under sunny skies or in rooms where light is reflected off the monitor. In addition, with a broad colour gamut equivalent to the sRGB colour space, even the finest details and textures are clearly reproduced in photos. 5. GPS, Electronic Compass, Log Function, and Point-of-Interest Display (COOLPIX S9300 only) The high-performance GPS and electronic compass acquire and record position information automatically, which can then be viewed via the camera's monitor. The S9300 also offers a log function that tracks and records position information even while the camera is off. Along with point-of-interest (POI) data (approx. 1,700,000 locations) that can be used to record and display location names, these features offer active outdoor users and frequent travellers an all-new experience, as they can track their vacation route per say and save the information easily in a file.

Full-HD Movies With A Simple Press Of A Button Utilising the newly integrated movie-record button, users can now create full-HD movies with stereo sound and superior picture quality with the press of a button. An optical zoom which can be used during the movie recording process and a new function that combines multiple recorded clips into a single file have been added. 5.
