NIKKOR.com adds exclusive works from photographers at the forefront of pop-culture and contemporary photography

Nikon brings the photography community an exploration of contemporary photographers and their works, alongside new insights to the pioneering imaging precision of NIKKOR with the latest contents on its global website

SINGAPORE – The latest content on the global NIKKOR branding website (http://www.nikkor.com) introduces 13 exclusive works from three renowned photographers of the pop-culture and contemporary photography genre to the “Eyes of Nikon” gallery, as shared by Nikon Singapore Pte. Ltd. today. The images, shot by international photographers Parker Fitzgerald, Stephen Gill, and Gustav Karlsson Frost, add their take on the NIKKOR lens story by challenging the possibilities of visual content created with their Nikon equipment.

The Philosophy of NIKKOR has also been updated with an engaging conversation with the minds behind the revolutionary AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR, the first NIKKOR lens to incorporate an Aspherical Extra-Low Dispersion element, while Tale 56 has been added to the collection of The Thousand and One Nights anthology with the NIKKOR WIDE-ZOOM 3.5–8.5cm f/2.8–4.

Eyes of Nikon

The new additions to the Eyes of Nikon gallery explore techniques and themes around portraiture and nature as interpreted by three highly-regarded young photographers. Each photographer shares his own unique experience with a NIKKOR lens, along with their perspectives on achieving image creation that pushes boundaries and raises the bar

Parker Fitzgerald - AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED
A Portland native, Parker is a regular contributor to Kinfolk magazine and is an established commercial photographer, having worked with global brands such as Nike, Honda and UNIQLO. Along with his images, he describes his experiences shooting with the AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED, how he embraced the lens’ compact size and incredible speed, and achieved outstanding image sharpness – even with a wide, open aperture.

Stephen Gill - AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR
With over 20 solo exhibitions under his belt, British photographer Stephen Gill’s works have travelled the globe and exhibited at numerous museums, including the Victoria and Albert Museum and National Portrait Gallery in London. His style incorporates an element of human intervention, often adding or obscuring materials as a powerful means of describing and exposing the potential character of a subject. Now available on NIKKOR.com, Stephen’s ‘Ash Series’ was taken in southern Sweden, bringing the essence of the place to mind, while using captions and expressions to support the storytelling.

Gustav Karlsson Frost - AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G
Gustav is a Stockholm-based commercial photographer with a specialty in portrait and fashion photography, having worked with both magazines and brands. In addition to his editorial work which has graced the pages of Monocle, Vogue Japan and Elle Décor Japan, he continues to pursue solo projects across the globe. His published work on the Eyes of Nikon gallery showcases images of up-and-coming Swedish musician, Nike, which presents a cool, yet gritty portrait series. Despite the lens’ light weight and small size, it aided him in adding a degree of cinematic flair to the images.

Video version of the designer interview, “Vol. 4: The middlemen who ensured the ultimate in NIKKOR quality”

Exploring the rich and layered philosophy of NIKKOR lens design, the fourth chapter in a series of interviews with lens designers focuses on the AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR. Through the series of interviews, Nikon experts discuss the lengths to which the middlemen take to ensure refinement and reliability in NIKKOR lens craftsmanship - from design to the final production of one of Nikon’s most advanced lenses. The fourth chapter, presented in video format, also captures the spirit of innovation that drives the Nikon team in their design and pursuit of the ultimate lens.

The Thousand and One Nights: Tale 56

Tale 56 examines the secrets behind the birth of the world’s first concave-convex 2-group zoom lens, the Auto NIKKOR WIDE-ZOOM 3.5–8.5cm f/2.8–4. Cancelled before it went into production, the article unearths anecdotes from the product’s development and features a performance test of the elusive 50-year old lens. Tale 56 is also dedicated to the opening of the Nikon Museum ahead of Nikon’s centennial celebrations this year. Tracing Nikon’s history from its founding a century ago, to the mind-opening technologies being developed today, the interactive exhibits educate visitors about Nikon optical technology.
